Online Learning

Preparing an adequate environment for online learning

All educators at Al Rouwad school were adequately trained on the required digital education skills, which included training on educational tools and applications for preparing and designing presentations, interactive video lessons, and exercises for live classes. Our teachers were also well-trained on how to use a newly-adopted education management platform, SchoolBoard, used by the school in addition to training parents and students on how to download and run the school application on their tablets and mobile phones.

Given that the prospect of resuming normal schooling in the near future remains unclear, one of our main goals is to currently work hard on enhancing and making a greater use of the virtual learning environment and making sure that all needs of our students are adequately met.

Main Applications and Tools Used

At the beginning of the distance learning journey, the school started using the top virtual learning tools in addition to our use of modern interactive applications to give interactive video lessons and conduct exams remotely, including the following most used tools:

  1. SchoolBoard
  2. Microsoft Teams app
  3. Zoom
  4. Socrative app
  5. Google Forms

The school has also started implementing a comprehensive and future-proof education management platform, SchoolBoard, as a reference for lessons on a permanent basis. The daily agenda includes lessons for all grades in the form of direct links that are easily accessed and include:

  • Live lessons
  • Recorded videos
  • Educational games
  • Exercises and solutions to exercises
  • Discussion forum
  • Recordings of all live lessons

The platform also includes a comprehensive indexed classification for each subject with weekly distribution of lessons so that the student can review the entire material at any time and asynchronously.

Live virtual classes are scheduled within a specific weekly schedule where educators and students can interact and collaborate. Our educators were able to explain new concepts, conduct direct discussions, and allow the students to ask and answer questions. Our students also shared the results of their learning and demonstrated their diverse skills. Moreover, the school launched a series of competitions and initiatives that motivated the students who were very interactive and showed great responses.

Al Rouwad school was able to create a stable environment for a large number of students despite the circumstances, and the administrative and educational staff identified the students’ weaknesses and prepared the needed support so our students can cope with the current stressors and be able to adopt transformative strategies that better prepare them for future leadership.

Our Vision for What Will Come Next

It is quite known for everyone that learning methodologies are continuously evolving and advancing to better meet different educational goals and objectives, so we are working to keep abreast of the latest updates in relation to curricula, educational strategies and assessment methods.

The new virtual learning environment is still under development and we are constantly working to enhance the overall experience by consulting specialists and investing in new educational technologies so it would be possible to provide our students with the best out there.

FAQs related to Online Learning

Asynchronous learning is learning that takes place at any time. Students can learn through recorded lessons and various subjects at any time they want, using the school’s learning management platform.

The student’s responsibilities during the online learning are the same as during normal schooling where we expect the student to attend all the classes and complete all homework. Online assignments are given a time frame and the student must submit assignments within the deadlines set by their teachers. We also expect the student to be sufficiently prepared for assessments and exams and to start doing their exams on time.

To facilitate the online learning process, parents must create the appropriate environment and atmosphere for their children so that they can study and interact with teachers effectively via multiple online platforms.
